Star flashes

They are the labels in the shape of stars, which you can see stuck on web pages, making you aware that you have something important to check out.

They function by inducing price stickers in low-cost stores. It is because of this that they go well with the start-up ethic of a lot of 2.0 sites but for the same reason they may cheapen other sites.

They can work extremely well but, of course, they should only be utilized to divert awareness to something significant.

I'd recommend only using one on a page (at most!).

Another style that's seeming over-used, and will probably run its course over the next year.
